This blog series discusses how to create effective dashboards to successfully manage your program portfolio. It combines my experience doing this in the National Security, Internet, Social Media and BioPharm areas with lessons I learned collaborating with a range of experts from Bob Ryan at IBM to the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) IT Dashboard Project.
The series consists of an introduction and four sets of tips:
- Identifying the stakeholders (i.e., customers) critical for successful adoption and use of your dashboard
- Defining metrics that expose information and drive behaviors that will increase the chances of successful execution of your portfolio
- Mapping your portfolio correctly to your dashboard to gain insight and drive success at all levels
- Critical success factors to use your dashboard effectively
